So yesterday I had to fork over a little more money than usual for my meds. I'm lucky cause I had the money but there are thousands of HIV positive who are struggling to make ends meet. Like me, some of us can't work right now so we get help where we can. I'm not ashamed to get a disability check cause my entire adult life I have put into the system.
What gets me is why aren't there more people out there trying to help raise money for AIDS research and funding? Like I said yesterday I had to pay a little more because the Ryan White program is low on funds.
I always see celebrities or regular people on TV or the radio saying there out to raise money for this cancer research or heart research etc. Always something else but hardly anyone comes out saying they are trying to raise money for AIDS research. It pisses me off! AIDS is huge problem in our country. Thousands of people contract this virus and thousands more die from this! I don't see very many people on TV talking about safe sex. Argh... sorry this is a subject that is very dear to my heart.
Before I knew I had this virus I was out there trying to tell my friends about protecting themself. Yes, I do feel like a hypocrite sometimes because I now have it. My problem was one stupid drunk night and I was taken advantage of while past out. Nevertheless, I still am out there trying to keep some teenage/20 something guy from ruining his life.
